Date: August 10, 2025
1. General
We, The Breaks GmbH (Serious Brand), are committed to ensuring that our online store is accessible to everyone – regardless of physical, sensory, or cognitive abilities. This statement describes the accessibility status of our website serious-brand.com.
2. Legal Basis and Target Standard
Our legal basis is the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG). Technically, we aim to comply with the WCAG 2.1 Level AA and relevant parts of the EN 301 549 standard.
3. Current Level of Compliance
The store is currently partially accessible. Navigation and product listings are largely accessible, but there are still areas for improvement (see Section 5).
4. Scope of Review
This statement is based on a visual inspection of publicly available pages, automated testing (e.g., axe, WAVE), and selective manual testing (keyboard navigation, sample screen reader usage).
5. Known Barriers / To-Do List
- Adding alt text to some product images.
- Improving form labels and ARIA attributes, especially in checkout; making error messages detectable/announced (e.g., via
aria-live
). - Ensuring color contrast meets at least 4.5:1 for normal text.
- Checking third-party widgets (newsletter, tracking) for keyboard accessibility and ARIA support.
- Providing an option to disable animations and motion effects.
6. Methodology
Testing was carried out using automated tools, keyboard-only navigation checks, sample screen reader tests (NVDA, VoiceOver), and source code inspection. A full, legally binding audit has not been conducted.
